Editor's note: Vote throughout the week and a winner will be announced Friday before kickoff. You can vote once per 24 hours at each of our three sites, the Santa Maria Times, Lompoc Record as well as the Santa Ynez Valley News. The totals from all three sits will be combined to determine the winner.
At this point in the season it's pretty clear who the game-changers are.
Some of the guys we've had listed here for the SMT Player of the Week are here just about every week.
But one of the biggest surprises, at least for me, is that Toa Taua hasn't won it yet. He could easily be penciled in every week not just to be a candidate but to win it.
This is one of those weeks. Homie had just nine carries against Templeton. He still put up more than 200 yards and 3 TDs. That's just mind-boggling right there. His average is over 16 yards a carry again.
Dino Maldonado has been spectacular all season long, but the St. Joseph QB took his game up to another level Friday against SLO: He went 12 for 14 for nearly 300 yards and 4 TDs.
His teammate Nate Guzman had a great all-around game, scoring on a reception and a KO return.
Dusty Gregg followed up his record-breaking performance with another huge game against Santa Maria, scoring five total TDs.
Gabe Prendergast did a little bit of everything, too. He scored a TD rushing and receiving. He also had an INT.
Then we have the breakout game of Jackson Anderson. The young Cabrillo signal-caller accounted for 7 TDs in the Conqs' win over Morro Bay, giving Cabrillo its first win of the year.
Darin Miller accounted for 5 TDs in Orcutt's 72-68 win over Cate.
Ok. Think I got everybody this week. Now go out and vote!
