Lompoc’s Pizza Garden restaurant is the latest winner of the City of Lompoc Economic Development Committee’s Economic Vitality Award, or EVA.

Pizza Garden was nominated for a variety of reasons, but it was strongly supported by EDC members because of the support Pizza Garden gives to local fundraising events to better improve the community.

The award was presented to Pizza Garden owner Larry Williams by the EDC and city staff on Sept. 19. More than 20 years of supporting the local community through fundraisers, sports team sponsorships, and donations, as well as weathering economic downturns made Pizza Garden a clear choice for the award.

Pizza Garden has been thriving in Lompoc for many years, revealing the dedication to serve the residents of Lompoc.

In 1980, Williams began working at Round Table Pizza, which was located in the current Pizza Garden storefront. Round Table Pizza later became Great Scott’s Pizza in the same location.

Williams purchased the business as a Great Scott’s franchise, and then in 1997 decided to strike out on his own and reopened the business as Pizza Garden. Since then, they have sponsored countless sports teams in the Lompoc Valley and held multitudinous fundraisers. As an example, earlier in September, Pizza Garden held a fundraiser for Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. The business donated $10 to Harvey victims for every large pizza purchased. Williams said he hoped to donate around $5,000 to Americares to help bring clean water and medical supplies to the area.

Williams currently runs the business with the help of his son and manager, Mitchel Williams, along with manager Alexis Samaniego. They employ approximately 12 staff members.

In 2014, Williams expanded the dining room to the adjacent storefront, essentially doubling in size. The dining rooms feature a number of big-screen televisions, which were just upgraded, to broadcast sporting events.

Raffles are held during sporting events and there are also specials on drinks and pizza. The restaurant also takes party reservations and provides party package specials on food and drinks. The expansion of the restaurant helped in being able to accommodate larger parties and host bigger events.

Pizza Garden’s menu is not only pizza. The restaurant provides visitors with gourmet pizza choices, subs, salads, calzones, and event desserts. Pizza Garden has the option of online ordering to make it an easy and convenient experience to enjoy their food.

While takeout is a popular option, the restaurant has an inviting and comfortable feel with plenty of seating, large screen televisions, and a small arcade for children of all ages. One can find Pizza Garden’s online ordering option at https://pizzagarden.hungerrush.com/.

Pizza Garden is not only a popular restaurant in town, but it provides an environment for social gathering, through the variety of events held during sports games. Pizza Garden is also a popular destination for birthday parties, and large gatherings which are reasonable with featured party package specials.

This long time restaurant in Lompoc is a local favorite not only because of the delicious pizza but because of Pizza Garden’s dedication to the Lompoc community. Pizza Garden sponsors many local causes and fundraisers which boost the feel of shopping local. The EDC recognizes the commitment to the community of this local business and thanks them for choosing to do business here in Lompoc.
