Every month, the Lompoc Economic Development Committee selects a business to celebrate with its Economic Vitality Award, or EVA, which awards those businesses that have put Lompoc’s well-being first.

This month, the Economic Development Committee is delighted to honor Coffee Time with the award.

Coffee Time has two locations, including one in Lompoc, located at 508 North H Street. This quaint coffee shop provides both coffee and specialty drinks to many travelers and diehard locals alike. The small location primarily is a drive-thru service, but also has a small indoor area to grab a drink and enjoy your coffee.

Owners Uyen & Mike Doan (who also own a Santa Maria location) took over the Lompoc business in 2009, and soon installed Ashley Barr as general manager.

Uyen spoke highly of both her staff and Lompoc, “We couldn’t thrive at Coffee Time without our girls. They take great care of our customers and that keeps our regulars coming back. We’ve had employees who have worked at both of our locations mention that the customers in Lompoc are the nicest.”

A native of Lompoc, Barr received the award on behalf of Coffee Time and was joined by daughter Kylie.

“As a single mom, Lompoc is a great place to work and raise my daughter," Ashley Barr said. "Over time we get to know our regulars—many on a daily basis. When we are face to face we get to see when folks are expecting, we get to see their babies, and we get to know their pets! It’s a great place to meet the community.”

“I think many of our customers appreciate our operation because we don’t talk to you through a speaker. We really try to establish a relationship with our customer," she added.

While locals tend to know our “main” street as H Street, it’s important to remember that it is also part of California’s famous Highway 1. This highway brings thousands of tourists through our city as they discover new parts of our state. We celebrate Coffee Time for its customer service and for sustaining its business over the years here in Lompoc.
