People looking for jobs and business owners looking for employees can find each other at the 2017 Lompoc Valley Job & Resource Fair set for 2 to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 20, at the Dick DeWees Community & Senior Center, 1120 W. Ocean Ave., in Lompoc.
Santa Barbara County Workforce Development Board is presenting the job fair in partnership with the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Workforce Resource Centers, the County Office of Education, the city of Lompoc and the Lompoc Recreation Division, Excel Personnel Services, PathPoint and several other agencies and organizations.
The fair is open to job seekers of all ages, and to increase the chances of participants finding employment, the Lompoc Recreation Department will host a free workshop about how to apply for jobs from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, April 7, at the Dick DeWees center.
Job seekers who attend the workshop will be allowed to enter the job fair 30 minutes before the event opens to the general public, an event spokeswoman said.
To register for the workshop, call 875-8098.
“(The job fair) is a great opportunity for qualified job seekers to connect with employers from all across the Central Coast,” said Amber Wilson, president and chief executive officer of the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau.
“We are hoping to have employers from various industries, as well as resources and information about education opportunities,” Wilson said.
She said the Chamber of Commerce is inviting all local employers who might be hiring to have a table at the job fair, adding there is no fee to participate.
Resource agencies and education providers can also share their information with the local community at the event.
Last year’s job fair drew nearly 500 people looking for employment.
Wilson said exhibitors and job seekers alike are encouraged to preregister at 2017lompocjobfair.eventbrite.com.
