The Central City Swing Band will perform their annual Christmas Concert on Tuesday evening, December 12th, 2017 at 7:30PM. The concert will feature Christmas music arranged in both a traditional or vintage swing style as well as arrangements in a modern jazz style from noted arranger Tom Kubis. The actual playlist is not finalized until the evening of the concert, but you can be sure that the tunes and the styles will be a pleasure to hear performed. The concert is performed in a church with very comfortable seating, but no room for dancing and plenty of free parking.
The group, led by Mr. Bob Swayze, has been performing on the Central Coast for many, many years. The band features 18 musicians in a standard “big band” configuration: 5 saxophones, 5 trombones, 4 trumpets and piano, guitar, bass and drums. The program will also feature vocals, including a duet, by the very talented Kathryn Loomis and Mitch Latting. Mitch is also the lead trumpet and flugelhorn player. The program will also feature several bass trombone features with solos by Mr. Bob Swayze.
Our concerts have always been, and always will be FREE. There is a “donation basket” in the lobby and all donations are split equally with the Church, with the balance going to the band’s music acquisition fund.
This concert will take place at 7:30PM on Tuesday, December 12th 2017 at the Unity Chapel of Light Church, 1165 Stubblefield Road, Orcutt, CA.
