The public is invited to a “Celebration of Dance in Performance” at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at the Everybody Can Dance studio, 800 S. Broadway in Santa Maria.

Diane Zink, founder and artistic director of Everybody Can Dance, and the Santa Maria Civic Ballet, will celebrate her upcoming 50th birthday by tying on her pointe shoes to perform her own choreography in solo and with her students. She will also perform a duo with her daughter, Juliet Peck, who is studying dance in addition to pre-med.

The free program will feature a variety of dance styles from jazz to contemporary and classical ballet.

Zink, who is a master teacher in the Russian Vaganova Method of ballet, stages two productions each year at the Clark Center in Arroyo Grande with guest professionals who perform with her students.

As a further commemoration of her birthday, Zink will partner with professional dancer Sayat Asatryan and perform the featured role of Sugar Plum Fairy in this November’s Nutcracker.
