What many job-market entrants ultimately seek is a career — not just a job. In search of answers and actionable information for the Class of 2016, WalletHub’s analysts took stock of the first-timer job market by comparing 109 entry-level positions based on 11 key metrics.
To identify the best markets for STEM professionals, WalletHub’s analysts compared the 100 largest metro areas across 17 key metrics. Our data set ranges from “per-capita job openings for STEM graduates” to “annual median wage growth for STEM jobs” to “projected demand for STEM workers by 2020.”

In order to help recent college graduates find the best cradles for their burgeoning careers, WalletHub’s analysts compared the 150 largest U.S. cities. We used 17 key metrics to determine the relative strength of their job markets as well as the attractiveness of their social scenes and other factors important to job-market entrants.
