Carol 'Snookie' (Hilderbrand) Calvert, age 78, a third-generation Californian, lifelong resident of Lompoc, passed away surrounded by family at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California on Sunday, February 18, 2018. She fought a brave and courageous battle against cancer and its effects for the last ten years.

Carol was born in Lompoc on September 19, 1939, to William and Emma (Iversen) Hilderbrand. She attended Lompoc schools and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1957. She married the love of her life Ken Calvert on May 24, 1958.

She used her high energy being a wife, mother, homemaker, and family business manager, while working full time in the workforce. After working at Valley Medical Group for several years, she started a career at The Lompoc Bank of America and retired after 27 years of service.

Carol was an avid, passionate reader. She enjoyed life, being social with many friends, and quality time with family. Carol was always there to brighten the lives of others. She was a member of the Alumni Association and a Lifetime member of The Historical Society. She was a spark-filled with life that ignited all those around her.

Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband of nearly 60 years Kenneth F. Calvert; her children William and wife Nancy Calvert, Deborah and husband Christopher Truhan; grandsons Nicklaus and Andrew Truhan; sisters Susan Lundberg and Terri Kring; brothers-in-law Earlan Calvert and Gary Kring; many nieces, nephews and cousins; ALL her amazing, long time best friends forever, and of course, Ozzie, best therapy dog ever.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday-March 9, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 925 North F Street in Lompoc. A reception to celebrate her life will be held at 2:30 pm at The Village Country Club (The Mission Club) 4300 Club House Road, in Lompoc.
