Gerald “Jerry” Luis died peacefully on January 21, 2018 at Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California at 72 after battling a sudden illness.
Jerry was born on March 25, 1945 to Joe and Helen Luis. He graduated from Lompoc High School in 1964.
He worked as a mechanic at Stan's Automotive before becoming a glazier. He worked at multiple glass shops, most recently at Mid Coast Glass where he retired in 2010.
Jerry enjoyed camping, fishing, barbecuing, John Deere tractors, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an active member of the Lompoc Elks Lodge and the River Bottom Boys.
If there's one thing you remember about Jerry it's that he loved to make people laugh. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the many members of the “Jerry Luis Fan Club”.
Jerry is survived by his girlfriend of 19 years, Jennie Bailey; son Dan Luis (Stephanie), daughters Jennifer Luis and Carrie Clark; grandchildren Alexandria, Trevor, and Samantha; and brother Ed Luis (Myra). He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Leonard Luis, and sister Linda Azevedo.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 30th at 10 am at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary followed by burial at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. A reception to celebrate his life will take place after service at the Lompoc Elks Lodge.
