Robert Eugene Lillard Jr. passed away Wednesday October 25, 2017 at the age of 75. Bob, as many of you knew him, was battling a rare form of cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born at St. Francis Hospital in Santa Barbara on July 25, 1942 to Robert and Frances Lillard. He attended Ellwood Elementary, LA Cumbre Jr. High, and Santa Barbara High School. He went to Long Beach State and Humboldt College. He spent a summer working as a hot shot for the U.S. Forest Service and went into the Navy for four years during the Vietnam war era, where he was trained in sonar. Bob then worked for the Santa Barbara Sheriff's department; Valle Verde retirement home; and the Samarkand. He was active in his church, Lompoc Foursquare.
He loved to read and always enjoyed watching classic movies. He had a passion for playing and watching baseball. He enjoyed fixing things and helping others. He was known for his great hugs and his kind passionate heart. Bob was extremely proud of his kids and grandkids, Robert Graham Lillard with his wife Jamie, and their two sons Blake and Brody. His daughter Amber Verdries and her husband Eric and their three sons; Cody, Wyatt, and Colton. His stepsons, Matthew and Bill Mingeault and their families. He is survived by his sister and brother; Judy Ensign and Martin (Maria) Lillard and many loving nieces, nephews and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held November 18, 2017 at 10am at Lompoc Foursquare Church.
