'Coffee House Chats' to focus on caregiving
Meridian of Lompoc will host its next "Coffee House Chats" gathering from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, at South Side Coffee Co., 105 South H St.
The event, held on the third Wednesday of the month, is open to the community. Attendees will be able to drink coffee and eat muffins during an informal conversation on topics centered around caregiving and dementia. The goal of the talks is to provide support and helpful tips in dealing with dementia in a relaxing environment with others who understand, , according to organizers.

Information booths sought for Mexican celebration
El Concilio de Lompoc, which will sponsor its 40th annual Mexican Independence Celebration on Sunday, Sept. 10, at Ryon Park, is accepting applications from any club or group that would like to set up an information booth during the celebration.
Any club, organization or business that wishes to be involved is encouraged to call Joe Gonzales, the event organizer, at 735-7081.
The event is held annually to celebrate Mexico's independence from Spain.
Registration open for YMCA golf tournament
The Lompoc Family YMCA is accepting registrations for volunteers and players, as well as donations, for its 18th annual “Kids for Character” golf tournament, also known as “The Ketrenia Klassic,” which is scheduled for Friday, July 21, at the Mission Club, 4300 Clubhouse Road.
The tournament is held in memory of Ketrenia Hall, the late wife of Lompoc Family YMCA board member James Hall. All funds raised by the tournament are used for scholarships to help make it possible for Lompoc-area families and children to participate in YMCA programs, according to organizers.

LHS Class of '67 seeking classmates for reunion
The reunion committee for Lompoc High School's Class of 1967 is looking for classmates to attend the school's 50-year reunion, which will be held Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Lompoc Elks Lodge, 905 E. Ocean Ave.

Lompoc Library offering movies on Mondays
The Lompoc Public Library, located at 501 E. North Ave., is offering free movie screenings at 2 p.m. Mondays in the Grossman Gallery.
A different feature film will be shown each week and popcorn will be provided. Anyone looking for a fun way to fill an afternoon is invited to attend. All films are licensed for viewing under Movie Licensing USA.
