Quartet to perform Christmas classics at NARFE meeting
The Central Coast Chordsmen Quartet will perform a selection of Christmas songs during the next meeting of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), scheduled for Thursday at the Lompoc Elks Lodge, 905 E. Ocean Ave.
Doors will open at 11:15 a.m.; the business meeting will start at 11:45; lunch will be served at noon; and the program is slated to start at 12:30 p.m. Meal choices include seasoned chicken salad for $13.50 and/or baked ham with scalloped potatoes and a roll for $13.

Las Posadas procession at Mission has been canceled
UPDATE: The re-enactment of the traditional Las Posadas procession through La Purisima Mission State Historic Park that had been planned for Saturday has been canceled due to poor air quality brought on by the Thomas fire.
Flower Fest Queen applications available
Applications for the 2018 Flower Festival Queen are available at the Lompoc Valley Festival Association office at 414 W. Ocean Ave., and online at www.lompocvalleyfestivals.com. Completed applications must be turned in at the office no later than 3 p.m. Jan. 12.
Candidates must be at least 17 years old and won’t reach 21 prior to June 17. Candidates must not currently be pregnant, have never been married, had a child or have been convicted of a felony. Candidates must also have been residents of the Lompoc Valley for at least a year. This includes Vandenberg Air Force Base, Vandenberg Village and Mission Hills.

Tickets on sale for library Christmas tree raffle
Tickets for this year’s Decorated Tabletop Christmas Tree Raffle, which is organized annually by the Friends of the Lompoc Library System, are on sale through Saturday at the Lompoc and Village libraries.
Raffle tickets are $1 each, or six for $5. The trees were decorated by individuals and organizations that support the local libraries, and they are on display at the libraries. The raffle drawing will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lompoc Library, 501 E. North Ave. All proceeds go to the Lompoc Library System.
Raffles to benefit Lompoc MLK Day celebration
The organizing committee for Lompoc’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration is selling raffle tickets to raise funds for next year’s event, scheduled for Jan. 15 at El Camino Community Center.
Among the items being raffled are a 55-inch TV ($5 for a ticket, or $12 for three tickets), a gift basket valued at more than $400 ($2 per ticket, or $5 for three tickets) and an Atari gaming system ($1 for two tickets, or $5 for 12 tickets). Tickets are available at the Lompoc Farmers Market.
