Jazz quartet to lead worship service

The Jazz Divine Quartet will lead a worship service beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday at Valley of the Flowers United Church of Christ, 3346 Constellation Road.

A free lunch buffet will be served after the service, which is open to all. Organizers invite members the community to experience Christian worship in a live jazz musical setting.

Iris Society's annual Rhizome Sale set for Sunday

The Lompoc Valley Iris Society will hold its annual Iris Rhizome Sale from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the rear parking lot at Union Bank, 801 North H St. 

The sale will include about 50 named varieties of rhizomes and tall-bearded iris, as well as other potted plants, all with photographs to help with potential buyers. The sale supports scholarships in plant sciences that the Iris Society offers each year to two local high school graduates.

Half Century Club to host Treasure Sale

The Lompoc Valley of Flowers Half Century Club will host a Treasure Sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 19, and tables for sellers are still available.

The cost to rent a seller's space is $10. The sale, which will also include a bake sale, is a fundraiser that will benefit the club's efforts to upgrade its facilities, according to organizers. The club is accepting donations for the sale. Items may be dropped off between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday at the club's headquarters at 341 North N St.

Church to host 'Messy' event for families

The First United Church of Lompoc, 925 North F St., is inviting families to attend its final Surf Shack Summer Messy Church event for this summer, which is scheduled for 3:30 to 6 p.m. Aug. 6.

The free event will include water Olympics, crafts, drama, games, the Science Guy, music and a simple supper. The event is especially for families with children, according to organizers.

The reunion committee for Lompoc High School's Class of 1967 is looking for classmates to attend the school's 50-year reunion, which will be held Sept. 2 at the Lompoc Elks Lodge, 905 E. Ocean Ave.
