A Solvang woman was arrested for three felonies Monday after she allegedly crashed her pickup truck into four vehicles and a utilities box while driving almost three miles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Renee Romero, 30, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries and once medically cleared, was booked into Santa Barbara County Jail on suspicion of felony driving under the influence, felony hit and run and felony reckless driving, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.
About 2:30 p.m., the Public Safety Dispatch Center received reports of a gray Chevrolet Silverado driving recklessly on South La Patera Lane in Goleta, where the Sheriff’s Office is under contract to provide police services.
The driver, later identified as Romero, headed westbound on Hollister Avenue where her pickup hit another vehicle at the Los Carneros Way traffic light, sheriff’s spokeswoman Kelly Hoover said.
Romero allegedly drove away from the scene and continued westbound on Hollister until she reached Glenn Annie Way, where the Silverado hit an electric box and two moving vehicles in the roadway, Hoover said.
She continued driving and at Pacific Oaks Road and Hollister allegedly hit yet another vehicle in the roadway.
The man driving that vehicle was transported to the hospital with minor injuries, Hoover said.
Romero continued to drive westbound until her vehicle became disabled at Entrance Road, where a motorcycle deputy took her into custody.
Hoover didn’t say whether Romero is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, drugs or both, and her presumed blood-alcohol level was not released.
