Lompoc will receive $22,000 from Santa Barbara County, with $17,000 of that used to buy 16 new computers for branches in Vandenberg Village and Lompoc, shown. The remaining $5,000 will be used to buy new materials and replace worn-out materials at both branches.

The Lompoc Public Library, 501 E. North Ave., is inviting local students to participate in its Homework Club, which will return Tuesday.

The club is open to students in kindergarten through 12th grade. It will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the library’s children’s department.

During Homework Club, volunteer tutors will be available to assist students with their homework. The club also welcomes students who just want a place to do their homework.

Children 8 years old and younger must be accompanied by an adult. When the Lompoc Unified School District is on vacation, Homework Club will not be held.

The library is also seeking volunteer homework tutors. A commitment for the entire school year is preferred, with tutors needed during Homework Club hours.

Those interested in volunteering are asked to call Volunteer Coordinator Maria Parker at 875-8782, or email m_parker@ci.lompoc.ca.us.
