The race to represent the 24th Congressional District just got a bit more crowded after two new candidates entered the field.

Steve Isakson out of Atascadero filed his paperwork on Jan. 6, while Benjamin Lucas out of Montecito filed Monday. The filing deadline is March 11.

The 24th Congressional District contains all of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, along with a sliver of Ventura County.

So far, eight candidates are running for the empty seat currently held by Congresswoman Lois Capps, who is retiring at the end of the year. Capps has represented the Central Coast since 1998.
