A Lompoc man suspected of committing murder has been charged in a separate case with sexual assault, domestic battery and witness intimidation, Lompoc police announced today.
Charles Alonzo Owens, who has already been charged with murdering Michael Spradling in 2007 in Lompoc, was formally charged today in Superior Court in Lompoc with the new counts.
Owens was in county jail before the new charges were filed, and remains there, according to Sgt. Chuck Strange.
Strange said information about the new crimes surfaced during the murder investigation. Owens was charged in Spradling’s murder last December.
The sex crimes, domestic battery and witness intimidation allegedly happened after Spradling’s murder, Strange said.
