Theophus Lee Bennett died after being stabbed multiple times near Lompoc's Barkin Park on Tuesday. The Lompoc Police Department is asking for the public's help in providing any information on the incident.

A man was stabbed to death at a Lompoc dog park on Tuesday and the Lompoc Police Department is asking for the public’s help to locate suspects in the homicide.

Theophus Lee Bennett, 33, died after being stabbed at Lompoc’s Barkin Park, Lompoc police revealed Thursday. Bennett may have been homeless, according to reports.

Lompoc police report that officers were sent to Barkin Park, located at 501 Summerwood Lane, around 6:20 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a stabbing. Once there, they discovered Bennett, who “had in fact been stabbed multiple times,” Lompoc Police Sgt. Chip Arias wrote in a report of the incident.

Bennett, according to Lompoc police, was treated by paramedics as he was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, but was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Lompoc Police are investigating the incident as a homicide. Police are encouraging anyone with information, including anyone who may have a home surveillance system in the area, to contact Lompoc Police Sgt. Arias at 875-8121 or Detective David Lamar at 875-8123.
