A Vandenberg Village teen who was reported missing Tuesday morning was found safe in the area Wednesday evening, the Lompoc Police Department said.

Krystal Jongsma, 16, was reported missing after not showing up for classes at Cabrillo High School.

"The Lompoc Police Department has located Krystal Jongsma," said a statement from the LPD posted on its mobile app Wednesday night. "We would like to thank the public for their help and concern. She was found in the Village and is healthy."

Krystal was last seen at 7:30 a.m. walking toward the library at Cabrillo High School but apparently did not show up for any of her classes.

Lompoc Police said in an earlier statement the department was conducting a search concentrated in the chaparral near Cabrillo through Tuesday and early Wednesday morning before finding her Wednesday evening.

The statement also said police worked with Lompoc Unified School District and the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office on the case.
