Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, the world's largest, fully accredited university specializing in aviation and aerospace, is a nonprofit, independent institution offering more than 40 baccalaureate, master's and Ph.D. degree programs. Embry-Riddle educates students at residential campuses in Daytona Beach, Fla., and Prescott, Ariz., and through the Worldwide Campus with more than 150 locations in the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Embry-Riddle Worldwide traces its beginnings to early 1970, when Dr. Wilbur A. Middleton, a soon-to-retire U.S. Army officer at Fort Rucker, AL, approached Embry-Riddle president Jack Hunt with the concept of awarding college credit to Army aviators for their military technical training. Since then, the program has become one of the largest off-campus, regionally accredited colleges in the United States, with over 45,000 alumni.
