The Cabrillo girls swimming team is the Los Padres League champion — for the 15th consecutive time.
Depth came through for the Conquistadores as they won at the Los Padres League Finals Wednesday as, for the third consecutive year, they prevailed at the league finals without taking first place in a single event. Cabrillo out-scored second-place Orcutt Academy 402-370 at the Karl Bell Aquatic Center at Santa Maria High School.
The Conquistadores were unbeaten in dual meets.
Nipomo's boys won at the LPL meet with 474 points to runner-up Morro Bay's 383.
The victorious Titans got open wins from Austin Simpson in the 200 yard individual medley (2 minutes, 03.66 seconds) and the 100 breaststroke (1:02.88), and Tyler Melsheimer in the 100 butterfly (57.04).
Nipomo's 200 medley relay team of Zach Smith, Simpson, Melsheimer and Peyton Kiunke won in 1:45.69. The 400 freestyle relay team of Wyatt Marsalek, Cooper Merrill, Kiunke and Simpson also won, in 3:28.39.
All the times for the Nipomo winners, except the 400 relay quartet, met the standard for an automatic qualifying mark for the CIF Southern Section divisional preliminaries. The 400 relay team swam a consideration time.
Orcutt Academy freshman Marcos Hillje-Enthoven won the boys 200 freestyle in 1:50.87, an automatic qualifying time for the sectional prelims. Teammate Josh Dasmann won the 500 freestyle in 5:00.15, another automatic qualifying mark for the sectional prelims.
Emily Ayers of Orcutt Academy won the girls 500 freestyle in 5:29.39. Teammate Dria Kwong took the 100 backstroke in 1:02.85. Both times were automatic qualifying marks for the sectional prelims.
