Arroyo Grande is the top team in the California Interscholastic Federation's Southern Section Division 3 girls water polo poll.

The newest poll, released Monday, gives the Eagles the No. 1 ranking with PAC-8 League foe Righetti sitting in the No. 9 spot.

The two league powers faced off last Tuesday in Arroyo Grande with the Eagles coming away with an 8-3 victory.

Cabrillo High is the only other squad to crack a CIF-SS girls water polo Top Ten. The Conqs are ranked No. 3 in Division 6.


Only four Central Coast boys basketball teams earned spots in the CIF-SS Top 16.

Cabrillo came in at No. 10 in Division 3A, San Luis Obispo is ranked No. 13 in Div. 4AA, St. Joseph is the No. 2 team in Div. 5AA and Valley Christian Academy is No. 11 in Div. 6.

There are considerably more girls teams that earned Top 16 spots from the voters.

In all, nine girls teams received votes.

Arroyo Grande is No. 16 in Div. 2AA.

In Div. 3A, Righetti is No. 5, Cabrillo No. 6 and San Luis Obispo No. 9.

In Div. 4AA, Lompoc No. 11 while, in Div. 5AA, Mission Prep is No. 6 and St. Joseph is No. 14.

Valley Christian Academy is No. 12 in Div. 5A and Arroyo Grande's Coastal Christian is No. 7 in Div. 6.

Santa Maria and San Luis Obispo are the only teams ranked in boys soccer.

Both are in Div. 3 with Santa Maria hitting No. 7 and SLO No. 9.

In girls soccer, SLO is No. 6 in Div. 3 while Santa Ynez is the No. 7 team in Div. 5.


And boys wrestling released its mid-season dual meet rankings.

From the Northern Division, Righetti is the No. 1 team with Pioneer Valley at No. 5 and Santa Maria at No. 10.
