The Righetti Warriors remain atop the CIF Southern Section’s girls basketball poll.
Despite losing 2016 co-PAC 8 League Player of the Year, Danita Estorga, to an injury on Jan. 9, the Warriors have not missed a beat.
Righetti (17-3, 9-0 PAC 8) edged another Top 15 team, Arroyo Grande, 57-54 at Arroyo Grande last Tuesday then followed that with a 66-48 victory at Atascadero on Friday.
When the new CIF-SS poll came out Monday afternoon, Righetti remained the No. 1 ranked team in Division 2A.
Aliso Miguel remains the No. 2 team in the division and two Central Coast teams held on to the No. 3 and 4 spots.
Cabrillo (19-2, 10-0 Los Padres League) held onto the No. 3 ranking with Valley rival Lompoc (15-4, 9-1) at No. 4.
Both Lompoc Valley school posted two wins last week. – Cabrillo had two home games, beating Nipomo 53-39 on Tuesday and Morro Bay 58-24 on Thursday while Lompoc beat Orcutt Academy 59-23 at home Tuesday and Templeton 34-27 on the road.
Arroyo Grande is in the larger Division 2AA and came in at No. 15.
In Division 4AA, Nipomo is the No. 12 team.
In Division 4A, Santa Ynez is tied for the No. 11 spot with Templeton coming in at No. 14.
In the small school Division 6, Arroyo Grande’s Coastal Christian is tied for No. 12 with Cambria’s Coast Union tied for No. 16.
On the boys side, St. Joseph was voted No. 6 in Division 2AA with Mission Prep coming in at No. 9.
Three teams are in the Top 13 of Division 3A – Cabrillo at No. 7, Atascadero at No. 11 and Arroyo Grande at No. 13.
San Luis Obispo is the No. 15 team in Division 4AA.
In Division 4A, Santa Ynez is No. 12 and Santa Maria is no. 14.
Morro Bay earned the No. 9 ranking in Division 5AA with Coast Union getting the No. 1 ranking in Division 5A.
In Division 6, Cuyama Valley is No. 9 and Shandon is No. 12.
Girls Water Polo
The latest girls water polo rankings have Righetti as the No. 3 team in Division 3 with Cabrillo coming in at No. 10 in that division.
Arroyo Grande is tied for 11 in Division 2 and Paso Robles is No. 2 in Division 6.
Santa Ynez is the top ranked team in Division 7 with Atascadero no far behind at No. 3.
In boys and girls soccer, just one local school continues to get votes – the San Luis Obispo girls squad is No. 7 in Division 7.
