Arroyo Grande and Santa Ynez High Schools are the only local schools to crack the CIF Southern Section'as final Top Ten poll of the girls tennis season which came out Monday afternoon.
Santa Ynez is the No. 2 team in Division 3 while A.G. is the No, 6 team in Division 2.
Both teams will host a CIF-SS playoff match when the first round begins Wednesday afternoon.
The playoffs begin this afternoon with wild card action with several local teams hitting the courts.
St. Joseph, the No. 3 seed from the PAC 8 League, is on the road, heading to Thousand Oaks for a battle with La Reina, the Tri-Valley's No. 2 squad in a Division 2 matchup. The winner faces another road game Wednesday at Arcadia, the Pacific League's top team and the overall No. 2 seed in the Division 2 tournament.
Atascadero is home for today's Division 2 wild card game, hosting Burroughs from Burbank. The winner heads to Murrieta Valley on Wednesday.
Arroyo Grande, The PAC 8 champion, opens the playoffs Wednesday at home with a first round match against the winner of Tuesday's Carpinteria-Crecsenta Valley wild card match.
San Luis Obispo, the PAC 8's No. 2 team, opens the playoffs on the road with a first round match Wednesday at Glendora.
In Division 3, Cabrillo is home today, hosting a wild card match against Redlands Citrus Valley. Both teams are the No. 4 seed from their respective leagues — Cabrillo in the LPL and Citrus Valley in the Citrus Belt League. The winner plays at Overall No. 1 seed Valencia of Placentia on Wednesday.
Santa Ynez earned the overall No. 2 seed. The Pirates host the winner of Tuesday's Hueneme-Redlands East Valley match on Wednesday.
Orcutt Academy, the LPL's No. 2 team, is also at home on Wednesday when the Spartans host Brea Olinda and Lompoc, the LPL's No. 3 seed, travels to Yorba Linda in Wednesday's first round.
The second round takes place Friday.
All matches begin at 2 p.m. unless both schools and the CIF-SS agree to a time chance.
Orcutt Academy is also going to the 8-man football playoffs.
The CIF-SS released the brackets for the 8-man playoffs Monday afternoon and the Spartans earned an at-large bid in Division 1 on the strength of their 6-3 record.
Orcutt Academy is on the road Friday night, playing at San Jacinto Valley Academy in a first round match.
The winner of that game travels to Cate, the top team from the Condor League and the division's overall No. 2 seed, on Nov. 13.
Valley Christian Academy earned an at-large bid in the 8-man Division 2 playoffs. They'll be on the road at overall No. 1 seed Joshua Springs on Friday night.
And Cuyama Valley, the Coast Valley League champions, hosts Lone Pine in its Division 2 opener Friday night.
All football games are scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m.
