This week there were almost too many noteworthy performances for my liking.

But I was able to make me way through them all and whittle it down to eight candidates for the SMT Player of the Week from Week Nine.

We do have a couple pairs of teammates that will be going up against each other this week.

Shemar Savage and Toa Taua from Lompoc are both up. Taua is the reigning Round Table Athlete of the Week, but I think Savage may have had a more impressive showing Friday in the 50-6 win over St. Joseph.

Savage made huge plays on both sides of the ball, though Taua definitely had more of a workload on offense, rushing nearly 20 times and scoring five TDs.

Savage definitely had the highlight advantage. His 17-yard screen pass TD was a thing of beauty, with Savage hurdling over a St. Joseph defender on his way to pay dirt. Savage also had two long pass plays and an interception that he would've took to the house had he not fallen on the Huyck Stadium turf.

Caleb Thomas, a defensive line, unofficially made 14 tackles and blocked an FG in Righetti's loss at Paso Robles.

Blake Truhitte carried the SM offense once again, racking up 360 yards of offense on his own.

I also have to note the craziness from Santa Ynez as Dustin Gregg, the QB, and Gabe Prendergast, the WR, connected 13 times in a huge night.

Gregg threw for more than 400 yards and had five TDs passing while Prendergast neared 300 receiving yards.

Alright, enough from me. Here are all this week's candidates:

Shemar Savage, Lompoc SR WR-DE: 3 catches, 102  yards, 2 TDs; 8 tackles, INT.

Toa Taua, Lompoc SR RB: 19 carries, 122 yards, 5 TDs.

Luis Diego Riquelme, Nipomo JR RB: 13 carries, 140 yards, 2 TDs; 1 catch, 11 yards.

Kadin Byrne, Arroyo Grande JR QB: 9 for 11, 120 yards, 1 TD; 14 carries, 88 yards, 3 TDs.
