Hancock basketball youth clinic

Registration is underway for a summer youth clinic the Hancock College men's basketball team will hold from Aug. 7 to Aug. 10.

The cost is $85 per child. To pay, make checks payable to AHC Men's Basketball. To register a child for the clinics, sign up at the gym prior to the start of a clinic, or visit athletics.hancockcollege.edu/camps/basketball camps.

The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. inside Hancock's Joe White Memorial Gymnasium each day.

Joe White Memorial Dinner

Tickets are on sale for the 16th annual Joe White Memorial Dinner and Auction.

The event, which benefits Hancock College athletics, will take place Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge, 1309 N. Bradley.

Admission is $60 per person. Doors will open at 5 p.m. A New York strip dinner prepared by Cowboy Flavor will be served at 7:07 p.m., with the live auction to follow.

Swoosh skills and drills clinics

Swoosh Basketball is holding skills and drills clinics for boys and girls every Tuesday and Thursday at Valley Christian Academy on Santa Maria Way.

The clinics run from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and cost $10.

Both fundamental and advanced skills will be taught by Santa Ynez High School girls basketball coach Mike Alexander along with several high school varsity, college and Nike coaches.

Junior golf summer camps

The Rancho Maria Golf Club is holding two more junior golf camps.

The camps run from Monday through Friday, July 17-21 and August 7-11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day.

Junior golfers will learn about the full swing, chipping, putting, rules and etiquette.

On the camp’s final day, golfers will each play four holes.

The classes will be taught by former PGA touring player John McComish who was a PGA long drive champion and is Rancho Maria’s course record holder.

The cost is $75.
