Panthers practice and camp
Practice for the Pioneer Valley High School freshman football team begins on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
Pioneer Valley will also be hosting a community youth football camp for ages 7 through 13 on July 27-29. The camp is for both boys and girls.
The camp is scheduled to run from 5 to 7 p.m. on July 27 and 28 and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 29.

L.A. Galaxy clinic at CVSC
Coaches from the Los Angeles Galaxy soccer club will be in Santa Maria Saturday to hold a coaching education training clinic with the Coastal Valley Soccer Club (CVSC).
It’s all part of CVSC’s amateur partnership with the Galaxy.
CVSC is working to bring more soccer development to Santa Maria with the hope of increasing support for youth soccer and the proposed new Santa Maria soccer complex.
The clinic will be held at the Crossroads Field from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Junior golf camp
The Rancho Maria Golf Club is holding one more junior golf camp.
The camp will run from Monday through Friday, August 7-11, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day.
Junior golfers will learn about the full swing, chipping, putting, rules and etiquette.
On the camp’s final day, golfers will each play four holes.
The classes will be taught by former PGA touring player John McComish who was a PGA long drive champion and is Rancho Maria’s course record holder.
The cost is $75.

Hancock youth clinic
Registration is underway for a summer youth clinic the Hancock College men's basketball team will hold from Aug. 7 to Aug. 10.
The cost is $85 per child. To pay, make checks payable to AHC Men's Basketball. To register a child for the clinics, sign up at the gym prior to the start of a clinic, or visit athletics.hancockcollege.edu/camps/basketball camps.
The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. inside Hancock's Joe White Memorial Gymnasium each day.
Joe White Memorial Dinner
Tickets are on sale for the 16th annual Joe White Memorial Dinner and Auction.
The event, which benefits Hancock College athletics, will take place Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge, 1309 N Bradley.
Admission price to the event is $60 per person. Doors will open at 5 p.m. A New York strip dinner prepared by Cowboy Flavor will be served at 7:07 p.m., with the live auction to follow.
