Willkomm earns national academic honor
Former Hancock College basketball standout Matt Willkomm has earned a national academic honor, according to a school-issued press release.
Willkomm, who just finished his junior season at Arizona Christian University in Phoenix, was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honor Court.
To be eligible student-athletes needed to be either a junior or senior, compiled at least a 3.2 grade-point average, to have competed at the NCAA or NAIA level, and have attended their current school for at least one year.
Willkomm, a business major, played in all 30 of the Firestorm's games in 2016-17, according to the Hancock release.
A two-time All-Conference First Team selection at Hancock, Willkomm finished his career with the Bulldogs as the all-time school leader in most 3-pointers made in a single season (90) and most career 3-pointers made (150).
Panthers football camp
Pioneer Valley is hosting a community youth football camp for ages 7 through 13 on July 27-29. The camp is for both boys and girls.
The camp is scheduled to run from 5 to 7 p.m. on July 27 and 28 and from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 29.

Hancock youth clinic
Registration is underway for a summer youth clinic the Hancock College men's basketball team will hold from Aug. 7 to Aug. 10.
The cost is $85 per child. To pay, make checks payable to AHC Men's Basketball. To register a child for the clinics, sign up at the gym prior to the start of a clinic, or visit athletics.hancockcollege.edu/camps/basketball camps.
The clinic will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. inside Hancock's Joe White Memorial Gymnasium each day.
