In a town that has various excellent dining choices for ethnic food, Floriano’s stands out as gem. With a menu that is both traditional and inventive, Floriano’s has won the final Economic Vitality Award (EVA) of 2015. The EVA, or Economic Vitality Award, is awarded (FYI prized means to value so changed word) to the businesses in Lompoc that have made a positive impact on the community. Whether it’s an investment in a space, or the continued support of community groups, EVAs award honor Lompoc organizations that go above-and-beyond business interests.

Floriano’s is a Lompoc institution. Previously occupying a small storefront on Ocean Avenue, Floriano’s has moved to 1129 North H Street, a space previously occupied by Carrows. Locally-owned businesses and restaurants thrive in Lompoc and this restaurant is no exception. They’re family operated, with the Rodriguez family, including mom Floriano, the restaurant's namesake, working to produce delicious food that makes locals come back for more. A true home-grown business, the Rodriguezes works diligently to invest in the community by sponsoring events and barbecues for community organizations that they support or in which they believe.

The year’s final EVA was awarded to Floriano’s because of their commitment to and confidence in Lompoc. Their move to the vacant Carrows restaurant more than doubled their maximum occupancy, but their confidence to invest in the move indicates that they understand that the community is here to support them. In the time that they’ve made the move, business is booming. Patrons appreciate the expanded dining areas as well as the always-convenient takeout which can even be ordered online. (I think they also have online ordering so check and see and if so mention and share the link) The quality of the food is still delicious and because of this, their customers remain loyal. It seems as though everyone feels like a regular at Floriano’s, and that’s what makes these community businesses an integral part of Lompoc.

Floriano’s success can be attributed to their amazing product and their booming business attributed to their clever marketing. Word-of-mouth is by far the most important tool in maintaining a quality reputation in a small town; and that word-of-mouth is amplified when social media is involved. With a presence on Yelp, Instagram, and Facebook, Floriano’s has leaned-in to the world of social media and has used it to gain a following. Their presence has brought them to the top of Trip Advisor.

When one visits Floriano’s you can expect a great meal, you can also expectalso experience the warmth of a family business that supports contributes to their neighbors and community. For this reason, the final EVA of 2015 goes to Floriano’s. Also, join over 1,000 people in following Floriano’s on Instagram @Florianos805 or Facebook at Facebook.com/florianosmexicanfood.
