Ann Sweet, 102, died peacefully at home with family. Born in Brooklyn, New York of Polish immigrant parents, she came to Lompoc in 1950 with her husband, Thomas M. Sweet (deceased 22 January 1989) and their six children: Mary Ann O'Neil (Robert); Thomas Paul Sweet (deceased 27 November 2010); Carol Sweet; Judith Sweet (Eugene Friedlander) Marthe Sweet (deceased 25 November 2018) (James Watt); and Ceily Young ( James). Ann is also survived by her sister Sophie Sellers and much loved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews and neices.
A fierce believer in community service, Ann worked from 1956 - 1989 as Lompoc's Deputy County Clerk. She served tirelessly on nonprofit boards and community botanical projects. An avid walker, gardner, reader and student, Ann hiked Lompoc's Lookout hill for her 80th and 90th birthdays and took up the study of calculus on her 100th birthday. Her high standards, courage and humor will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is greatly missed.
