The Lompoc Civic Theatre will hold auditions this month for its upcoming production of the musical “A Dog’s Life,” which is based on a book and lyrics by Sean Grennan and music by Leah Okimoto.
The auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, and Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Stone Pine Hall, 210 South H St. The cast will include four characters: Jack, a sweet-tempered mutt with a tenor or baritone to A vocal range; Joel, a vulnerable and charming human with an A baritone to F range; Big Dog, an older, wiser more cynical character with a baritone to G range; and Little Dog, a smaller character with anger management problems and a vocal range of mezzo, with a belt, to F.
No pianist will be available for the auditions, so performers are asked to bring any music and devices to play it, or to sing a capella.
Performance dates for the musical are May 24 through May 26, May 31 through June 2, and June 7 through June 9. It will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. Sundays.
