Lompoc police are investigating after a 13-year-old was shot Wednesday afternoon.

Police said at around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, two juveniles were walking in the 900 block of North I Street in Lompoc when a vehicle approached them and fired a gun at them from within the vehicle.

Sgt. Jorge Magana said the 13-year-old was hit by gunfire and transported to a hospital, where he was later released.
