Civic Theatre to offer free staged readings of 'Proof'
The Lompoc Civic Theatre will present staged readings of “Proof,” a play by David Auburn, over three days from Friday, Jan. 11, through Sunday, Jan. 13, at Stone Pine Hall, 210 South H St.
The performances will be free to attend and open to the community. They will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
The play centers on Catherine, who spent years caring for her now-deceased father. Haunted by his mathematical brilliance and his mental health issues, she fears inheriting both. When Hal, her father’s former student, finds a ground-breaking mathematical proof among her father’s writings, it forces Catherine into crisis. Exploring the nature of genius, relationships and the power of love, “Proof” is a winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
The performance will include some adult language. For more information, call 805-735-2281.
