Church to host Chili/Bake Sale fundraiser

The women of the First United Methodist Church, located at 925 North F St., will hold a Chili/Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 30, in the church's Fireside Room (just off the parking lot).

Community members are invited to stop by for a bowl of chili and baked items. All food will be available to eat in or take out. Proceeds, according to the church, will be used to support local and global mission projects.

Cabrillo Jazz Band to perform in Pismo Beach

The Cabrillo High School Jazz Band will be among the featured performers at the Basin Street Regulars’ “Hot Swingin’ Jazz” concert scheduled for 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 31, at the Pismo Beach Veterans Memorial Building, 780 Bello St.

Along with the Cabrillo band will be the Corey’s Rolling Figs Jazz Orchestra from Los Angeles. The jam session is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m., and attendees are invited to bring instruments and join in.

Admission is $5 for members and $10 for nonmembers. Funds raised at the event will support jazz camp scholarships for area teens and young adults, according to organizers.

Fashion show to benefit American Cancer Society

The Lompoc Relay for Life's "Love Will Find a Cure" team will hold a fashion show and luncheon fundraiser on Saturday, April 6, at the Lompoc Elks Lodge, 905 E. Ocean Avenue. Registrations for the event are requested by Sunday, March 31.

A social hour will begin at 11 a.m., with the luncheon set to start at noon. A variety of raffle items and door prizes will also be available. As always, local cancer survivors will be the models and will share their stories of their fight against cancer. This year, the models will be wearing fashions from Deasee’s Boutique in Lompoc.

Tickets are $40, with all proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.

Lompoc Pops' Spring Concert set for April 8

The Lompoc Pops Orchestra, a 45-piece semiprofessional orchestra composed of Central Coast musicians, will present its Spring Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, April 8, at First United Methodist Church, 925 North F St.

A wide variety of well-known, popular music will be featured, including several popular Tango pieces, complete with ballroom dancers. Tickets are $20 for general admission and $5 for full-time students of all ages (student ID at the door will be required). Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.

Tickets available for 'Garden Tour and Tea'

Tickets are on sale now for the Lompoc Alpha Club's sixth annual Garden Tour and Tea event, which is scheduled for Saturday, May 4.

The event will include self-guided tours of five local gardens from noon to 4 p.m. and tea from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Alpha Clubhouse, 704 E. Ocean Ave. The Clubhouse will also host a Garden Gift Sale with items from Lompoc Valley Florist & Home Décor and there will be a drawing for a gift basket. Cabrillo High School’s horticultural department will also have many plants for sale at the clubhouse.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased at Lompoc Valley Florist & Home Décor at 1026 North H St., at the Lompoc Chamber of Commerce at 111 South I St., or by calling 805-736-1645.
