Civic Theatre to hold open auditions

The Lompoc Civic Theatre will hold auditions this week for its upcoming production of “Rounding Third,” a play by Richard Dresser.

The auditions will take place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday at Stone Pine Hall, 204 South H St. The roles available are for two males, ages 25 to 55. The play will be directed by Charles Sommer.

Enchilada fundraiser to benefit Catholic Charities

The Lompoc Catholic Charities Community Services and Lompoc Food Pantry are selling enchiladas to raise funds.

The fundraiser is presale only. Tickets can be purchased at the Lompoc Food Pantry offices (325 N. Second St.), Surf Connection (1307 North H St.) and Just 2 Sweet Candy Creations (703 E. Ocean Ave.). Enchiladas will be available for pickup Saturday at La Purisima Church on the corner of South I Street and West Olive Avenue.

Volunteers needed for community project

The Lompoc Beautification and Appearance Commission is seeking volunteers to assist with a work project planned for Saturday in the southwest portion of the city.

The work, which will begin at 8 a.m. and continue until it is complete, will involve spreading mulch and planting drought-tolerant plants on and around the walking path on Olive Avenue at O Street, R Street and at the corner of Olive Avenue and V Street. Lunch will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring tools, such as wheelbarrows, shovels, pitchforks and rakes.

Bingo fundraiser to benefit Half-Century Club

The Valley of Flowers Half-Century Club, 341 North N St., will host a bingo fundraiser April 22 to help the club raise money for a new furnace and other upgrades.

Doors will open at noon and games are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. The event is open to players ages 18 and older. The cost to play is $10 per pack, $1 per special and $1 Hot Ball.

Russian quartet to perform at church

The St. Petersburg Men’s Ensemble, a Russian a capella quartet, will perform at 7 p.m. April 30 at St. Timothy Orthodox Church, 403 North J St.

The group is back by popular demand with a program of Orthodox liturgical hymns, classical Russian poems set to music, and folk songs. The suggested donation for entry is $15. CDs will be available, and light refreshments will be served in the church hall, where attendees will have opportunities to meet the singers.

Elks Lodge offering 'Barbecue Team' for fundraisers

The Lompoc Elks Lodge is offering its "Barbecue Team" to local nonprofits or groups that would like to raise funds with a BBQ sale.

The lodge, located at 905 E. Ocean Ave., hosts several fundraiser barbecues each year. The meals are prepared in the facility's BBQ Room, which is where meals can be picked up.
