Elks Lodge to host Flag Day celebration
The Lompoc Elks Lodge, 905 E. Ocean Ave., will host a Flag Day celebration at 5 p.m. Friday, June 14.
Members of the community are invited to participate in the event, which is free and open to the public. Local Boy and Girl Scouts will participate as color bearers for the flag during the ceremony.

Chamber luncheon to feature SBA manager
Joe Suh, senior area manager for the U.S. Small Business Administration, will be the featured speaker during a luncheon hosted by the Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, June 20, at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1201 North H St., and the deadline to register for the event is Friday, June 14.

Suh is expected to lead a one-hour introductory seminar covering a range of topics, including tools to help start, grow, or recover a small business.
Church to feature chanters in concert
Community members are invited to attend "Hearing the Divine: A Concert," featuring chanters Nicholas and Nate Baba, at 7 p.m. Friday, June 21, at St. Timothy Orthodox Church, 403 North J St.
Tickets for the concert are $15. Cheese, wine and desserts will be served following the performance, which will feature songs of ancient Byzantium.

Community invited to Veterans United meeting
American Veterans United, a nonprofit that advocates for active-duty service members, veterans and their families, is inviting the community to attend its monthly general meeting, scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at the American Legion Post 211, 636 North H St.
Veterans seeking help with benefits and claims are encouraged to attend. There will also be merchandise for sale and a 50/50 raffle afterward. The American Veterans United meetings are held on the fourth Saturday of each month. Free transportation will be provided from Santa Maria.

City budget workshop slated for June 24
Lompoc community members are invited to participate in the city's next budget workshop, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Lompoc City Hall, 100 Civic Center Plaza.
The workshop will include discussion from city staff and the Lompoc City Council regarding the 2019-21 biennial budget. Community input is encouraged.
The meeting will be broadcast live on TAP TV (Comcast channel 23), on the radio in Lompoc on 100.9 FM, and on the city website at www.cityoflompoc.com.
Lompoc Pops to present summer 'Disco' show
The Lompoc Pops Orchestra, a 45-piece semiprofessional orchestra composed of Central Coast musicians, will present its Summer "Disco" Concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 24, at First United Methodist Church, 925 North F St.
Alongside a "Disco Hits Medley," the orchestra will be featuring "Salute to Cinema," "Smoke on the Water," "Caravan," familiar pieces from "Ragtime," and selections from the musical "Annie." There will also be a special Sousa march in addition to a patron request to perform "The Girl from Ipanema," and the conductor has added "By The Light of the Silvery Moon" as a special tribute to the late Doris Day.
Tickets are $20 for general admission and $5 for full-time students of all ages (student ID at the door will be required). Children 12 and younger will be admitted free.
