Pea Soup Andersen's is getting the star treatment on the TV show "Small Town Big Deal" in its March 5 episode, scheduled to air at 6:30 p.m. on KSBY. Dish subscribers can also see it on RFD-TV, Channel 231, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
The show, including hosts Rodney Miller and Jann Carl, was in the Santa Ynez Valley filming a segment on Solvang Danish Days last September. Pea Soup Andersen's wasn't even on their agenda but it caught their attention and a new segment was born.
"Small Town Big Deal," now in its fourth season, travels around the country highlighting the most fascinating small communities, their businesses, festivals, and personalities.
"(The program) is a love letter to America," Carl said. "It's a show that celebrates America."
Pea Soup Andersen's, with its 92-year history and famed "Travelers Special" of "all you can eat" split pea soup served with bread, was right up the hosts' alley as they sought stories about national treasures found where you least expect to find them.
The show's Solvang Danish Days episode is scheduled to air a week later, March 12, on KSBY, and March 10 for Dish subscribers on RFD-TV.
