A Ventura County music teacher who presented programs in the Santa Ynez Valley now faces a state indictment for committing lewd acts against five minors while he remains under federal indictment for child pornography and exploitation. The complaint filed in Orange County Superior Court brings six criminal charges for lewd acts upon children under the age of 14 against John Edward Zeretzke, founder of Flutes Across the World, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said Thursday.

The Buellton man accused of sexually abusing three teenage boys from the Santa Ynez Valley had his bail substantially reduced Monday, down to $275,000 from $1 million. Santa Maria Superior Court Judge McGregor said bail for Gregory Scott Ray was originally set at $1.2 million so the court could later review the serial nature of Ray's abuse allegations, his employment and access to minors, as well as the potential for additional alleged victims to come forward.

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office on Wednesday filed murder charges against Juan Carlos Hernandez, who allegedly shot and killed a man outside 805 Tacos on Oct. 6. 

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday released the identity of a man that was found dead near Lompoc last week. On Friday, the body of Maurilio Manzano Gonzalez, 34, of Santa Maria, was found near his vehicle in the 5600 block of Santa Rosa Road, east of Lompoc, sheriff's department spokeswoman Kelly Hoover said.

Three suspects, including a juvenile, were arrested Wednesday following a high-speed vehicle pursuit with police from Lompoc to Solvang and involved two minor traffic collisions, according to a Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.
