At about 9 p.m., sheriff's deputies conducted a vehicle enforcement stop for a driver who was reportedly reaching excessive speeds in the area of Mahoney and Black roads. The driver was identified as Barry Pardo, 52, of Santa Maria.

During the stop, officials searched Pardo's vehicle, and found a large rifle case and a methamphetamine smoking pipe. The rifle case contained an assault rifle without a serial number, a small caliber rifle and two high-capacity AR-15 type magazines, according to the Sheriff's Office.
