A sign in front of the Lompoc Shopping Center displays a blank space Friday. Two new national retailers are set to move into the strip mall.

Two more national retailers are set to move into the Lompoc Shopping Center, a city spokeswoman announced Friday, less than two months after it was revealed that Ulta Beauty was preparing to join the strip mall anchored by Vons.

Famous Footwear, a nationwide chain that sells discounted shoes, and Five Below, a discount store that sells products that cost $5 or less, are in the process of moving into the shopping center located in the 700 block of North H Street, the city announced.

Christie Alarcon, Lompoc’s interim economic development director, said the city was thrilled to have the retailers coming to town.

“The city of Lompoc’s Economic Development Team is proud to welcome these big-brand stores as they become part of our local business community, and we were happy to help facilitate the expedient process of occupying these vacant storefronts,” she said, according to a release sent out by the city.

Interim City Manager Teresa Gallavan announced at this year’s State of the City luncheon on April 12 that Ulta Beauty was planning to move into the storefront formerly occupied by Staples. The national retail chain specializes in cosmetics, skin care, fragrance and hair care products, as well as salon services.

Famous Footwear, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, has more than 1,000 locations across the country, according to its website.

Five Below, headquartered in Philadelphia, notes on its website that it is “one of the fastest growing retailers in the country with more than 630 stores in 32 states."

"Five Below expects to cut the ribbon on approximately 125 new stores in 2018,” the website noted.

Along with those stores, a Blaze Pizza restaurant is scheduled to open at 1409 North H St. before the end of the month, according to the city, and a Planet Fitness gym is set to move into the retail space at 1009 North H St. that was formerly occupied by Fresh and Easy.

Both Famous Footwear and Five Below are scheduled to go before the Lompoc Planning Commission on Wednesday for architectural review, which will include proposals to remodel the exterior facade of the existing spaces.
