Spring break for Lompoc-area students is next week. We put together a list of events, camps and programs that are being held to help entertain and educate kids during their downtime.

Programs offered by Lompoc Recreation Division

Program registrations are accepted by walk-in at the Anderson Recreation Center, 125 W. Walnut Ave., or by phone at 805-875-8100. Online registration available at:www.apm.activecommunities.com/LompocRecreation

When two fees are quoted (for example, $20/$24), the first is the discount rate for Lompoc residents who reside within city limits and the second for nonresidents.

ARCHERY CAMP/ 7 YEARS & UP

We are proud to offer this exciting and popular archery camp for youth. Information includes safety, physical and mental skill, proper shooting form, and the physics and math of archery. Archery instills confidence and self-esteem in athletes

and all training is done in a positive, self-assuring manner with emphasis on the enjoyment of the sport.

Instructor: Thom Chamberlain $50(R), $60(N) KAP

Session 1: Monday through Thursday, 9 to 10:30 a.m. April 15-18.

COOKING ADVENTURES CAMP/ 6 to 10 YEARS

This great new class features the opportunity for kids to be creative in the kitchen! Each class will focus on creating at least one yummy meal or snack (which we get to eat or take home) as well as discussion on kitchen and food safety. Kids will learn measuring, recipes, and make new friends as they become self sufficient in the kitchen. Children will prepare appetizers, breakfast treats, lunch ideas and even quick and easy dinner options.

Session 2: Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to Noon, April 16-18

SPRING ARTS & CRAFT WORKSHOPS

EASTER EGG DECO

This workshop will be the perfect opportunity to get all of your egg decorating done! Join us for an afternoon of gluing, drawing, laughing, and fun. This program is open to children between the ages of 5 and 12, though children under age 5 will be allowed to participate under the supervision of a parent. Eggs and all decorating materials will be provided. Preregistration is required.

Ages: 5-12

Time: 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Location: Anderson Recreation Center, Panorama Room

Fees: $7 per child

CANVAS KIDS

Come learn the basics and beyond in this fun and exciting class. Your child will have lots of fun creating a seasonal masterpiece that they will be proud to hang on the wall. Canvas, paint and other supplies are included. Please wear work clothes!

Other events around Lompoc

Teens invited to 'Pool Party' at Aquatic Center

The city of Lompoc is inviting local teenagers to attend its Spring Break Teen Pool Party from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at the Lompoc Aquatic Center, 207 W. College Ave.

The event is open to all teens who are in the eighth through 12th grades. Entry is $8, and student IDs are required. All participants must comply with pool rules, including wearing proper swim attire.

Lompoc Family YMCA offering 'Spring Camp School’s Out Care'

We get it: the kids love days off from school, but they don’t always fit with your schedule. That’s why we’re offering additional care days throughout the school year. Drop off your kids for a safe and fun time at the Y! Each day is full of fun activities from making crafts to experimenting with science to playing group games!

Time: 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Lompoc Family YMCA, 201 W. College Ave.

Grades: K-6

Fees: $151/week

A spring celebration in Lompoc April 19-21, 2019 at Ryon Park

The festival features live musical entertainment, a variety of exhibitors, food booths, carnival rides and games, a car show (Saturday, April 20) and  motorcycle show (Sunday, April 21).
