State Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson, who represents California's 19th Senate District covering Santa Barbara County and part of Ventura County has been chosen to chair the California Legislative Women's Caucus. This is a bicameral group of female legislators who work on behalf of women, children and families.
"It's an honor to serve as chair of the women's caucus and have an opportunity to amplify the voice and concerns of women through our legislative efforts," said Jackson. "Women have made great strides in our state, but we still have so much work to do to ensure equal economic opportunity and gender equity in all aspects of modern life."
Assemblymember Cristina Garcia, who represents Bell Gardens, was named vice chair.
Female legislators make up only 26 percent of California's legislature.
