Karly Beyers scored a game high 20 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the field, helping the Bulldogs to a 52-39 Western State Conference North Division women’s basketball victory over the Santa Barbara City College Vaqueros Saturday night at SBCC.

Both teams are 9-9, 1-1.

Hancock rallied after trailing 13-8 at the start of the second quarter.

But the Bulldogs outscored that Vaqueros 17-8 in the second quarter to seize control, leadi8ng 25-21 at the half.

Beyers he three 3-pointers in the third quarter as Hancock extended its lead to 42-27.

The sophomore also has eight rebounds, five assists and one steal.

Hancock has a thin bench, and its starters scored all of the team's 52 points.

Grace Rosa scored 11 points on 6-for-11 shooting, Taylor Lee-Hammer put in 10 points, Calley Pruett added six and Hannah Walls scored one.

The Bulldogs were efficient on their limited shots, hitting 19 of 38 from the field.

Holly Barrera scored 18 points for the Vaqueros, who were just 16-for-41 from the field. Aaliyah Pauling put in nine.

The Bulldogs return to Hancock’s Joe White Memorial Gymnasium to face Cuesta College on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Cuesta (9-7, 1-1) topped Oxnard College 53-43 on Saturday.

Later Saturday night, the Bulldogs completed a sweep of the Vaqueros when the men's team also posted a Western State Conference North Division victory.

The Bulldogs (14-8, 1-1) squared their WSC North Division record with the win.

SBCC lost its seventh straight game to fall to 0-2 in league and 1-14 on the season.

Glenn Jordan scored 14 points on four 3-pointers, and Shane Carney finished with 13 points to lead a balanced scoring attack in the win. 

Carney scored nine points and Dustin Davis poured in seven in the first half to help the Bulldogs carry a 39-26 lead at halftime. Kevin Baines and Jordan each contributed six points in the first 20 minutes. The Bulldogs shot 50 percent in the first half. 

Jordan hit two 3-point buckets in each half for the Bulldogs. On top of his 14 points, Jordan added five assists and five rebounds. Carney finished with 13 points, five rebounds and four assists. 

Eleven Bulldogs scored at least two points in the victory. Diego Lucas and Baines finished with eight points apiece. All eight of Lucas’ points came in the second half as the guard buried two 3-pointers. Davis finished with seven points and five rebounds, while Spirit Ricks poured in seven points to go with his five rebounds. John Riddick led the Bulldogs with seven rebounds along with six points. Javae Lampkins added three points and four assists.

Hancock will host Cuesta at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in another WSC North Division game.
