The votes are in and Cabrillo High School senior Tyler Chard swam past the competition.

Chard led the Conquistadores to the Los Padres League Water Polo co-championship — along with Santa Ynez.

Chard’s outstanding season earned him the league’s Most Valuable Player award.

The All-LPL First Team goal keeper is Santa Ynez sopohmore William Mann. The First Team field players are seniors Jake Motyer of Cabrillo, Collin Cusack and Jake Eszes of St. Joseph, and Daniel Dunaetz of Lompoc, and juniors Emmett Hill of Cabrillo, and Elijah Ozimec and Adam Parlato of Santa Ynez.

The All-LPL Second Team includes field position players Tyler Thompson and Shae Kakos of Cabrillo; Lukas Lastrn and Adam Taylor of Santa Ynez; Villnie Villalpando of St. Joseph; Taylor Emery and Robert Mactas of Lompoc; and Zach Condit of Morro Bay.

Damien Jaurez of Santa Maria, Macrus Thiele of Cabrillo, Machael Ostrander of Lompoc, Collin Deats of Santa Ynez and Andre Morales of St. Joseph were Honorable Mention.

Opposing defenses could not slow down dynamic St. Joseph senior KJ Cusack this past season.

Cusack racked up 1,851 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns. He helped the third-seeded Knights to the first perfect regular football season in school history and a playoff run that ended with a 49-27 loss to second-ranked and eventual division champion Gardena Serra in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Northwest Division Playoffs.

Cusack is the All-Los Padres League Football Team’s Most Valauble Player. His team finished 12-1.

Pioneer Valley senior Dan Ando is the Offensive Back of the Year. St. Joseph senior Keith Bendixen is the Offensive Lineman of the year.

The Defensive Back of the Year is Nipomo linebacker Duane Hanna. the Defensive Lineman of the Year is Alex Grandy of Pioneer Valley, and the All-Purpose Player of the Year is Bronson Gonzalez of Morro Bay. All three are seniors.

Linemen on the First Team offense include Zach Perron of St. Joseph; Noe Contreras and Rafael Tapia of Pioneer Valley; Jake Ryan of Nipomo; and Garrett Roth of Templeton. The tight end is Pioneer Valley’s Anthony Jackson.

Wide receivers are Kevin Britt of Nipomo and Dakota Oropeza of Templeton. The quarterback is Pioneer Valley’s Nick Rucobo. The running backs are Eric Penningroth of Nipomo and Tyler Gray of Templeton. The utiltiy man is Tyler Shean of Santa Ynez. Fernando Osua of Cabrillo is the punter.

All of the members of the first team offense except Gray, who’s a junior, are seniors.

Linemen on the All-LPL First Team Defense include Matt Spencer of St. Joseph; Mershad Dillon of Santa Maria; Isaiah Hill of Pioneer Valley; and Andrew Chavoya of Cabrillo.

The latter three are seniors. The first two are juniors.

The First Team Defense’s linebackers are seniors Jonathan Fuentes of Pioneer Valley, Taylor Sanders of St. Joseph and Angel Rendon of Nipomo, and junior Dominic Woods of Morro Bay. The unit’s defensive backs are seniors Chris Cardenas of Pioneer Valley, and Daniel Wheeler and Christian Gomez of Templeton, and junior Kohl Bashline of St. Joseph. The unit’s kicker is St. Joseph senior Garrett Dudock.

The tight end is St. Joseph’s Mitch McNulty. The wide receivers are Jason Buchanan of St. Joseph and Akeem King of Nipomo. The quarterback is Nipomo’s Josh Correia. The running backs are Jordan Watson of Cabrillo and Hylan Lockshaw of Morro Bay. The utility man is Jacob Cano of St. Joseph. The punter is Scott Arellano of Santa Ynez.

The defensive backs are Sergio Salazar of Pioneer Valley; Pat Cook of Cabrillo; Shane Conway of St. Joseph; and Joel Enriquez of Santa Maria. The kciker is Cody Chavez of Morro Bay.

Area Honorable Mention players included llnebacker Miguel Trigueros and lineman  Dominik Gonzalez of Pioneer Valley; lineman Zach Pohlman and linebacker Jalen Davenport of Cabrillo; linebackers David Quiroz and Lee Jensen of Santa Ynez; lineman Jesse Estrada and quarterback Chris Valdez of Santa Maria; lineman Derek Carlotti and linebacker Jack Donovan of St. Joseph; and lineman Dominic Cabigas and linebacker Steven Mansera of Nipomo.

Senior Aly Squires led Santa Ynez to another Los Padres League girls volleyball championship. She is the league’s volleyball MVP.

Senior setter Kiersten Humphries of Templeton and Mackenzie Mexico of Santa Ynez are on the All-LPL First Team. So are hitters Ciara Ramos of Morro Bay (senior), Rachel Szeyller of Santa Ynez (junior), Natasha Kolbo of St. Joseph (senior) and Annika Bastanchury of Santa Ynez (sophomore). The First Team middle blocker is St. Joseph senior Analise Riezebos. The First Team back row specialist is Morro Bay sophomore Monica Santiago.

The All-League Second Team consists of hitters Natalie Madson and Kylie Zarmati of Templeton, and Danielle Carlson of Santa Ynez; setters Chloe Huggins of Cabrillo and Kylie Gacad of Morro Bay; middle blocker Brandy Machado of Lompoc; and libero Shannon Swaim of St. Joseph.

Opposite players Hayley Baldwin of St. Joseph and Helene Edleberg of Lompoc; middle blocker Emile Newton of Santa Ynez; and outside hitter Jessica Rucinski of Cabrillo were all Honorable Mention.

The All League honors are determined by a vote of the league’s coaches.
