The Dos Pueblos guys showed their wrestling depth at the top at the Channel League Finals at Cabrillo High School Saturday.

After going out in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Duals the previous weekend, Dos Pueblos had seven weight class winners at the Channel League meet, easily the most of any team.

Lompoc had three weight class champs. San Marcos, which went out in the first round of the Division 4 Duals, had one. So did Santa Ynez, Cabrillo and Santa Barbara.

Lower weights Dos Pueblos weight class champs were Charley Ramirez at 108 pounds, Telmo Ortiz Mendoza (115), Sam Yamasaki (128) and Anthony Martinez (134).

The Chargers who won upper weights titles were Diego Cruz at 154 pounds, Aden Jones (197) and Jackson Stetler (222).

Lompoc's Devin Brown won at 147 pounds. Teammates Declan Sparrow and Jacob Nunez struck gold at 182 and 287, respectively.

Cabrillo's Patrick Durham earned the 172-pound title.

Richie Sandoval of Santa Ynez won the 122-pound championship. Oscar Munoz of Santa Barbara earned the title at 140, and Matt Pencek of San Marcos won at 162.

Here is a list of North County wrestlers who did not win weight class championships but did place.

CIF Southern Section Playoffs

The North County post-season field for the girls water polo and girls and boys soccer playoffs is slim.

Lompoc won the Channel League girls soccer championship, but the Braves will not be playing at home in the first round of the CIF-SS playoffs Wednesday. Instead, Lompoc will play at Ocean League co-champion Beverly Hills in a Division 4 match.

The Santa Ynez boys soccer team will play at Carpinteria Tuesday in a Division 6 wild card game.

Santa Ynez will play at Santa Paula Tuesday in a first-round Division 6 girls water polo match-up.

Boys basketball (Friday night)

Morro Bay 87, Santa Maria 68

Rolando Pina scored 19 points and snared 11 rebounds for the Saints, who lost an Ocean League game to the Pirates on Santa Maria's Senior Night at its Wilson Gym.

Genaro Morales scored 15 points and snared seven rebounds for the Saints. Kobey Pabellan scored nine points, all on three-pointers.

Girls basketball (Friday night)

Mission Prep 69, Righetti 60

The Royals beat the Warriors in a Mountain League game at Mission Prep.
