Santa Ynez senior Keller Haws and junior Henry Allen were named to the All-Channel League First Team last week for water polo.

Attacker Ethan Parrish and goalkeeper Angus Goodner of league champ Dos Pueblos shared Channel League MVP honors. Parrish is a junior. Goodner is a senior.

Haws and Allen are two of the First Team utility players, along with Trevor Ricci of San Marcos, junior Chase Raisin of Santa Barbara and Dos Pueblos sophomore Sammy Arshadi. The center is Santa Barbara senior Julian Bacon. The two-meter player is San Marcos senior James Oiskovich.

The Second Team utility players are Santa Ynez junior Clayton Davidson, Santa Barbara junior Dylan Fogg and Cabrillo senior Josh Rowe. The two meter defenders are Dos Pueblos senior Wyatt Meckelborg and San Marcos senior Keller Radthy.

The center is Dos Pueblos senior Kyle Faison. The driver is Santa Ynez junior Jacob Thielst. The goalkeeper is San Marcos freshman Ben Webber. The center defender is Santa Barbara sophomore Jordan Hayes.

Santa Ynez senior center defender Mateo Del Solar, Cabrillo junior goalkeeper Chase Fichtner and Lompoc senior attacker Jarred Torres all earned honorable mention.

Girls tennis

Senior Yuka Perera helped lead the San Marcos girls tennis team to the league championship, and she is the Channel League Girls Tennis MVP.

The First Team seniors are Kelly Coulson, Maura Mannix and Sam Weiner of San Marcos, Claire Stotts, Sophia Ostovany and Claudia Brewer of Santa Barbara and Anjali Thakrar of Dos Puebolos. The sophomores are Alessa Somer and Cami Chou of Dos Pueblos, and Kayla King of Cabrillo. The juniors are Fiona Kinsella of San Marcos and Claire Collison of Santa Ynez.

The Second Team seniors are Paris Wynne, Alyssa Murray and Karly Kovach of Cabrillo, Janice Tsai of Dos Pueblos and Dawani Layog of Lompoc. The juniors are Samantha De Alba and Bella Munoz of San Marcos, and Hannah Mendez of Santa Barbara. The sophomore is Mia Chou of Dos Pueblos. The freshman is Sophia Curti of Santa Ynez.

Emmy Withrow and Lauren Thorburn of Santa Ynez, along with Rachel Carlos of Cabrillo, and Leann Alcantara and Cheri Battle of Lompoc, all earned honorable mention.

With the retirement of longtime coach Chip Fenenga, Santa Ynez High School has an opening for a boys volleyball coach.

Wahoos workout set for Sunday at Elks

The California Wahoos Baseball program will have a workout date for any interested Central Coast Players from the high school Classes of 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and potential 14-and-under players that are currently in the sixth, seventh or eighth grades.

The workout will be on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Elks Field in Santa Maria and will be broken up into two sessions. The first session will be from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for 2022 and 14-and-under players. The second session will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. for 2019, 2020 and 2021 players.

The free workout is open to any players that would like to be considered for the California Wahoos teams that will play in the USA Baseball 17U/16U/15U/14U National Team Championships in Arizona or the Collegiate Team during the summer 2019 season.

Check-in time for the first session will be from 9 to 10 a.m. and for the second session from 12 to 1 p .m. The workouts will start shortly after the check-in times.

Cabrillo baseball looking for coaching help

The Conquistadores are seeking an assistant coach to help with the junior varsity program, head coach Jon Osborne announced. 

Practices will start in January. The season is set to begin in February 2019.
